School district will return confiscated phones
The Associated Press
LAGRANGE, Ky. –
There’s been a change in the Oldham County school district policy of keeping cell phones confiscated from students. The school board voted unanimously last night to allow the phones to be returned to their proper owners.
Now, students will be able to get their phones back if their parents pick them up at the Central Office between the last day of school and June 30th. School officials say any phone that’s not picked up by a parent will be donated to a local charity.
The policy change also adds iPods and MP3 players to items that cannot be used on school property.
I say: While students should not be using cell phones at school, this school should not have kept the phones. The school board did the right thing. Parents give students cell phones to keep in touch. However, if the student does abuse the cell phone they should not get to use it.
Pictures of the new Louisville Downtown Arena. I do believe it is looking good. Kentucky should be proud of this arena.
