Police chase dump truck on Evansville streets

EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
Police officers chased a stolen dump truck going as fast as 60 mph through city neighborhoods before arresting the driver.

The chase began Monday afternoon after a detective in an unmarked car saw the dump truck driving recklessly and called for a uniform car to help stop it, police Cpl. Steve Green said. The truck then sped away on streets near Deaconess Hospital north of the city’s downtown.

The driver tried to hit a squad car, but stopped the truck on a sidewalk a short time later, police said. The 2,500-pound truck was reported stolen Monday from a body shop in Indianapolis, Green said.

No injuries were reported from the chase.

The driver, Timothy Hess, 25, was being held in the Vanderburgh County Jail.

“You can take me to the hospital but I’m not mental,” he shouted at officers while handcuffed outside the truck. “I been to prison so that ain’t gonna hurt me none.”

I Say: If your dumb enough to do the crime. Especially, really stupid crimes maybe you should be in prison.
