Kentucky Lawmaker Won’t Take Lead on Gaming – bloodhorse.com

Here is the deal. Kentucky cannot decide whether to allow casino style gambling. The issue is whether this will affect horse racing. The problem is actually not a problem at all. Churchill Downs is less than 20 miles from one of the largest casinos in Southern Indiana. The state govt and the horseracing industry in general are shooting themselves in the foot. Tons of people are going to gamble and Kentuckians are losing out on the tax revenue of casinos because of it.
The second part of the equation boils down to this. If Kentucky does legalize casino gambling. The horse racing industry should NOT have total control of the casinos. Why hand them this olive branch. Give them the ability to compete and let the market sort itself out. If you were in Las Vegas you can bet on all kinds of things. Basketball, Baseball, and even horseracing I seriously doubt the tracks contention of they cannot compete.
Just a common sense Kentuckians take on the obvious.

Kentucky Cigarette Tax

Well the tax in now 30cents a pack. But what really strikes me about this article is that this place does 8,000 dollars a day on average! Now I am in the wrong business.
